UK Youth Rocketry Challenge 2019

7 golden ducks from Kinross High School lined up yesterday at the Scottish Regional Finals of the UK Youth Rocketry Challenge 2019 hosted at Kinross Radio Model Flying Club. Aero Space Kinross provided sponsorship for two teams from KHS and the 7 golden ducks soared to success and have qualified for the UK National Final. Congratulations!!

Commiserations to the second KHS team – “the naughty boys” – whose awesome rocket was dramatically propelled to over 1400 feet above the ground, but unfortunately failed to separate successfully – try being good boys next year!

Huge thanks to Rocketeer/Launch Control Officer – John Bonsor, & Range Safety Officer – Rick Newlands; Konrad Zadecki – Invigilator (representing ADS – the UK competition sponsors); and KRMFC Secretary – Billy Dunn (who also put on a spectacular aerobatic display with a very expensive looking boy’s toy).

Congratulations also to the (rocket) science faculty teachers at Kinross High – Mark McShane and Colin Oates – who mentored the KHS teams to the launch pad.
